The first 3-ring binder in the Janus Performance Management system
describes the entire Janus system as well as the steps that are
necessary to ensure that the approval process gets off to a good
start. In simple terms, the Janus system has two parts:
1.) The documentation of an effective performance management
approach to ensure that all participants in the process feel that
their experience is a positive one. This includes ensuring that
individuals are enthusiastic and motivated in the first place,
that they set clear and stretching objectives, that coaching and
feedback systems are designed properly and that a progressive
performance update system is in place.
2.) The use of a competency based assessment system. This
system allows individuals to select competencies that are most
relevant to their job from a library of 36 competencies that are
described in detail. By using the Janus on-line system, individuals
can set up a tailored assessment questionnaire and use this to
rate their own performance, and to ask others to participate (through
180 degree or full 360 degree feedback).
